Internet Addiction : A Growing Concern In Youth

Theme

The phenomenon of internet addiction has grown to be one of the most discussed and clinically implicated areas in research for the last decade. According to a report, half of all teenagers say they “feel addicted” to their mobile devices—two-thirds have a smartphone, and they spend an average of nine hours a day consuming digital media. What drives youths from “normal use” to addiction to the Internet and technology? Young people are spending most of their time in online activities including pornography, gambling, online video games, excessive chatting, cyber bullying and cyber crimes etc. India has the youngest population in the world but it’s our responsibility to inculcate the right habits among next generation so we don’t lose the power of our young just in surfing online.
